My story

Meet Bolt – A Loyal Companion in the Making Bolt is a 1–2 year old, 15 lb Rat Terrier mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart — once you earn it. Rescued from a neglectful situation, Bolt is still learning that people can be safe and kind, and he needs a very experienced, patient dog-savvy adopter to help him continue that journey. Bolt is shy and people-selective — he doesn’t warm up easily, and he’ll need someone who understands the importance of slow introductions and respectful boundaries. When he’s unsure, he may lunge, growl, or keep his distance. But with time, patience, and plenty of treats, his walls come down. Once he picks you as his person, it’s pure magic: he becomes incredibly devoted, playful, and affectionate. His foster describes him best — “He literally runs and jumps into my arms when I walk in the door.” Bolt loves being outside and has a high energy level, so a secure yard or an active lifestyle would be ideal. He’s good with other dogs, cats, and older children who understand dog body language and can give him space when needed. While he can be around toddlers, a home with older kids or adults only is preferred due to the possibility of nipping if he gets overwhelmed. This special boy needs someone willing to sit on the floor with a treat in hand and let him take the lead. If you give him the time he needs, you’ll earn a fiercely loyal companion who will trust you with his whole heart. Bolt isn’t the easiest dog — but for the right person, he will be one of the most rewarding. Adoption application can be found here-https://airtable.com/shrAznkHf1ruIqQwq

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bolt, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
