My story

Animal Profile: Lucas is a pint-sized cutie joining us from Modesto, CA on 5/1/2025. This little Chihuahau mix guy weighs in at only 10 pounds. He is dog friendly and though shy at first, a total love with people. Foster Update:  Lucas is a sweet, snuggly little guy who’s looking for his forever home. We think he’s a chihuahua and maybe a little Italian Greyhound with his long legs and lean body. He’s been doing great in foster care—he gets along well with the other dogs in the home and really enjoys being part of the family. Lucas is fully potty trained and doing well with crate training—it’s still a work in progress, but he’s getting there. Because he’s a great jumper, he’ll need a secure yard with a fence that’s at least 4 feet high. He’d do best in a home without young kids, but he’d love another friendly dog buddy to hang with. This little guy is a total Velcro dog — he wants to be with his person as much as possible and is happiest cuddled up beside you on the couch. Lucas is incredibly loving and thrives on affection. While he's not exactly shy, Lucas does have some understandable fears of unfamiliar household items like brooms and ladders. He’ll need a patient adopter willing to help him feel safe and build his confidence. Lucas enjoys playing with his foster dog friends and is a joy to walk on leash. He’s a sweet, loyal companion who’s ready to find his forever person to love and trust. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
