My story

Say hello to Kai, a tiny bundle of joy with a heart full of love and a spunky spirit that shines! This little guy may be small in size, but he’s bursting with curiosity, playfulness, and love. Kai is friendly and always ready for his next adventure, whether that’s exploring the backyard or curling up in your lap after a busy day. He’s full of life and always brings a smile to everyone he meets. If you`re looking for a pint-sized companion with a big personality, Kai is your perfect match. He’s ready to find a forever home where he can be loved, cherished, and spoiled (just a little!).IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOME SIZE: 13 lbs. HOME TYPE: House or Townhouse – Kai can be vocal, so would not do well in an apartment or a home with shared walls and little sound separation. CHILDREN: Yes- older children potentially compatible due to Kai’s resource guarding CATS & SMALL ANIMALS: Yes- cats potentially compatible with slow proper introduction.OTHER DOGS: No- Kai would do best as an only dog. ACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate to High; will need daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation but enjoys some daily down time as well.HUMAN COMPATIBILTY: First time dog owner possible if willing to work on difficult behaviours such as resource guarding and separation anxiety. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS: At least three in-person training sessions to work on socialization, basic training, manners, resource guarding and possible separation anxiety.HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER: Kai is very human social and does not do well being alone.FAVOURITE THINGS: Loves comfy places for naps and is very food motivated!**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.If you are viewing this through 24PetConnect by PetPlace or Adopt-A-Pet, please visit our website https://kwsphumane.ca/adopt/process to submit an application. Any applications submitted outside of www.kwsphumane.ca may not be received.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kai - Kitchener, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
