My story

Carmella’s Personality  Carmella is a perfect blend of snuggles and fun! This adorable teenager loves morning cuddles and curling up in your lap, making biscuits as she purrs away. As the day unfolds, Carmella transitions into play mode, bouncing around with joy and exploring every corner of her domain. She LOVES plastic spring toys, watching the birds and squirrels outdoors while perched in front of a window indoors, and following her foster mom around the house. Carmella is very curious and in constant motion when in play mode...looking for things to keep her occupied. Carmella is a wonderful kitty with people, but a bit too dominant to live with other cats - she wants to be in charge of her domain! In the afternoons, you’ll find her basking in sunny spots, napping and recharging for her evening antics. Carmella may be a tad bit shy when meeting new people, but she adapts quickly then becomes fearless, always eager for a friendly face. When she’s not in the mood to play, Carmella loves to take some time for herself, often found bathing or napping in a quiet corner. In the evenings, she turns up the energy by sprinting up and down the stairs, ready for some fun! Bonus: she likes to play fetch and is happy to bring her toys back to you, ready for another round of playtime.  What Type of Home Carmella Needs  Carmella needs a home where she will get plenty of interaction and playtime with her guardians. She wants to be with her people! She needs a moderately active home. We are seeking a family ideally with an older child - about 12 years of age or older - to play with her and keep her occupied. Carmella is very curious and energetic and needs the type of stimulation that a family can provide. Where Carmella Came From Carmella came from an active home with children and another cat. She did well with the young male cat she grew up with. However, after coming into SPCA's care, she was adopted into a new home with a young friendly female cat and she surprised us with her assertive behavior. So we've decided she needs to be the only kitty in her forever home.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA.
