Meet Rascal – Ready for a New Chapter Rascal has had a tough start to life, but this 1-year-old boy is finally ready for a chance at a real home—and he's looking for someone with the heart and patience to give him one. Found alone as a tiny, sick, and injured kitten, Rascal spent his early months fighting to survive rather than learning to trust. His recovery took time, and while he got the medical care he needed, the lack of early socialization left him unsure about people. Still, he's made progress—especially lately. Volunteers who spend time with him report that he is curious and interactive, asks for pets, and enjoys playtime. Like many cats stuck in a cage for too long, Rascal finds the confinement frustrating. He’s known to swipe and hiss when it's time to go back in—and honestly, we get it. It's likely his worst behavior is tied more to circumstance than character. Rascal has feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), so his immune system is slightly compromised. However, he can live a full, happy life—even with other cats, as long as they get along. We can direct you to good independent resources to learn more about FIV. We believe the shelter setting has stifled Rascal’s potential, and we’d love to see him in a calm, consistent foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can finally decompress and thrive. He needs an understanding cat person who will give him time, space, and gentle encouragement. In return, you’ll get the satisfaction of helping a once-forgotten, super handsome youngster grow into the confident cat he was always meant to be.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rascal, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
