My story

Can you open your home to sweet Lucy?? This girl is lucky to be alive!! Today, we have an ā—ļøurgent fosterā—ļø plea for this beautiful older girl, who we have named Lucy. Lucy was homeless. She’s an older girl, estimated to be between 5 and 8 years old. This week, she received a full workup and spay. During her exam, she was found to have several mammary masses that are consistent with a very malignant form of cancer. Once she heals from her spay, Lucy will need to go back to VCOP to have one side of her mammary chain removed. This is a very big surgery, and will leave her with a very large scar down one side of her abdomen. She will need a safe, soft place to recuperate away from the stress and noise the kennel brings. It is very likely that after she heals from her first surgery (called a unilateral mastectomy), she will need the other chain removed as well to give her the best chance of it not metastasizing to other locations. It’s clear she hasn’t received the care she deserves, as she came to us with her nails quite overgrown, and she appears to have been on her own for some time. Despite all she has been through and all she has left to endure, Lucy has remained the sweetest soul, and is so tolerant of all who have been working to help her. We want more than anything to give Lucy the second chance she so deserves, and allow her to live out the rest of her days cancer free getting as much love and attention as she craves. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy 🐾, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
