My story

?? Meet Sophie – A Smart, Spirited Kelpie with Energy to Burn! Age: 1 Year, 3 Months | Breed: Australian KelpieSophie is a classic example of what happens when a brilliant herding breed doesn’t have an outlet for her energy—she starts making her own plans! Recently surrendered for digging and chewing, this girl wasn’t being naughty—she was just bored, under-stimulated, and craving a job.?? Nervous in the shelter, Sophie comes alive outside. She quickly forms connections with people and is extremely in tune with her handler. With the right balance of mental and physical exercise, Sophie is sure to thrive.?? What Sophie Needs: An active, structured home that understands herding breeds A job to do—whether it’s agility, training games, scent work, or hiking Regular mental stimulation to avoid destructive boredom A safe space to build confidence and independence (she may show signs of separation distress) A dog-savvy person or family ready to invest in her growth?? Dog-Friendly!Sophie did well on her dog test and could thrive with a confident dog who matches her energy and playstyle. A proper intro is recommended, as always!?? Why Sophie? This girl is a working dog with a big heart and big brain. She’s loyal, sensitive, and eager to learn—but she’ll need an adopter who understands her unique needs. With the right structure, Sophie could be an incredible companion, teammate, and adventure buddy.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt SOPHIE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
