My story

My foster writes: Charlie is a teddy bear! He's fluffy, friendly, independent, and curious. He doesn't mind head scratch, cheek rub, back pet, belly rub, or even a bit of handshake. He loves watching traffic from the windowsill. What my friends at ACC say about me:I have lived with many cats at in my previous home, so I would likely do well in a multi-cat home.Charlie is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he appreciates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.A volunteer writes: Charlie's in search of a guidebook on how to do everything right. Maybe you've seen it? Or you could please ask if one of his neighbors has it? He's not sure, but he's trying so hard to figure things out. If only it were so easy. We've been offering our friendship in lieu of a guide (because we don't have it either) and that seems to be helping Charlie come out of his shell just a little bit more. I first saw the very charming Charlie sleeping behind his beautiful bed. Hiding only his head in that very cat specific way, my heart went out to him for his sincere efforts and his gentle heart. There's a chance he just needed someone to show him how it works because the next time I walked by, Charlie was proudly stretched out in his bed, soaking up scritches from his favorite staff member before stepping out for some pets. Charlie is curious to learn about the Care Center and keen to make friends, but a little cautious. He came to us from a home with many other cats and knows there's a forever family out there who will be happy to walk beside him as he learns. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 12.9 Age: 4yrs 2mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charlie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
