Garfield ACCT-A-209017 is a 8-year-old neutered male cat who came in as an owner surrender on 5/5 due to his behavior. Owner noted he has dental issues, gingivitis that has been present for 2 years. They noted hi ideal home would be with someone who needs companionship and can get his teeth fixed and who doesn’t have other pets or children. Their favorite thing about Garfield is that he snuggles when he wants to. Owner was previously going to surrender him on December 13th 2024 but was able to keep him until they needed to surrender him on May 5th 2025. Behavior: On 5/8/25 staff noted: “Approached cage and he was tense but curious. I placed the fake hand near him and he smelled it, did not hiss or swat. He is super nervous but did not respond aggressively to me being there talking to him.” On 5/5/25 staff noted: “PT is low growling dilated pupils and tense body. Gave first dose of gaba.” On 4/28/25 staff noted: “Bite questions response copied below, bite photos attached "Thank you for reaching out this has been going on for a couple months I’ve even talk to the vet about this she prescribed gabapentin to keep him calm but it’s not working. He would bite out of no where or sometimes if you walk by him he will scratch. When bites he clamps on and doesn’t want to open his mouth." On 12/13/24 Owner noted: “He has gotten very aggressive and is biting me and scratching me for no reason. He has anxiety/stress, energy level too high, aggression towards people. He has high energy with a passion for exercise and play. He enjoys independent play with toys, playing with people, napping and relaxing, running around/getting zoomies, and scratching on posts/scratch pads. An ideal home would be somebody who loves cats and is patient and lives alone. When asked about cats aggression “He does it out of nowhere, I can be laying down he jumps of top of me bites and scratches the vet had gave me gabapentin to help him relax but it’s not working. He does that every other day. " Medical: On 5/6/25 intake staff noted: “Gingivitis and stomatitis.” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
