My story

Meet Petey! He was found as a stray in a commercial business area in Scottsdale all by himself at the side of the road. The lovely people who found him opened their car door and he jumped right in. Petey did not have a collar, or chip and he was not fixed. We searched for an owner but no one came forward, and we don’t know how because Petey is so lovable! Petey loves all people that he meets. It takes him a short time to get comfortable and once he does, he is Velcro. He’s extremely bright and picks up the routine so easily. He loves dogs once he is comfortable with them and initiates play so he would love a home with a playful buddy. Petey is kennel and potty trained and knows dinner time is in his kennel. He loves food so much that he should not be free fed so that he doesn’t eat absolutely everything at once. Petey has met cats and seems nonreactive but a full introduction has yet to happen. He’s great with men and women and would be great with kids over 5 as he’s very gentle when he takes treats. He only jumps up when you pick up his food bowl. He’s not a big barker, but if the other dogs in the home bark, he sometimes joins in. All he wants is love and playing with other dogs. Petey is fixed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. The vet said he is between a year and 2 years old. He’s full grown at 55 pounds. Petey is located in Gilbert for meet and greets. He loves to run, chase, and be chased by dogs so we would love for him to have a home with a yard, but he walks beautifully on a leash

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Petey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
