My story

Betsy is estimated to be a 4 year old Havanese. She came to us from one of our rescue partners looking for a fresh start after being released from a commercial breeder. Here she was used for profit and now she is learning what it’s like to be a normal dog. Like a lot of other commercial breeds dogs she is looking for a home that can provide patience, love and training. She is affectionate and definitely wants attention which isn’t always the case. However she will need work on basic things as in: - Potty training as she probably lived in a kennel majority of her time and is learning routine on going in and out. - Leash training as this is the first time she’s worn a leash or harness. She doesn’t need another dog in her household but another dog could help on walks for her to follow. At this time we are requiring a fenced yard, however that could change if she makes progress in this. - She will be adjusting to a new environment and so reassurance when she there are loud noises or new things will be so helpful. If you are interested in being considered for Betsy apply directly. If you are have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Her adoption fee includes her spay, up to date vaccines and preventatives, negative heartworm test, and microchip. She is located in Chicago and adoptable within 3 hours of Chicago.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Betsy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
