Meet Rocky Comics! Rocky came to us from Long Beach Animal Services on May 3rd. He acts much younger than his 11 years and is very playful and cuddly. Rocky weighs 41 lbs. - a perfectly mid-sized pup! When our volunteer arrived at the shelter to give Rocky his freedom ride, the staff couldn’t wait to share how incredibly sweet he is—and how lucky his future family will be to have him. We agree! Rocky is an all-around good boy. He knows sit and shake, and he is super gentle when taking treats. As you can see in the videos, he does well with the other dogs in his play group, and he passed his cat test! Rocky loves to be petted and cuddles and gives kisses! He leans and melts into you, and it's so sweet! Rocky enjoys going for walks and on our weekly Sunday hikes where the on-site Frosted Faces hit local trails. He can easily do a 3+ mile hike and probably would be up for some jogging if his companion was. Rocky went on a paddleboarding adventure with volunteers and other Frosted Faces. He was a natural! Rocky has great balance and impressed everyone by standing confidently on the board, calmly taking in the sights and smells around him. Rocky also took two dips in the water and, both times, swam right back to the board, ready to climb back on and keep exploring! Rocky went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home environment. Here's the scoop from his Fling Mom: "Rocky is highly intelligent! He knows Sit and Stay, and I was teaching him "Drop It" He is eager to please. Rocky is a very youthful senior! He did well with an hour a day of walks and stimulation. New sniffs are glorious for him, so he went with his fling bro to their own SniffSpot area. He loves an adventure, so the new yard was a lot of fun for him. I also took Rocky on walks to a park nearby. He loves meeting new people - that's his favorite!! Rocky loves car rides and seeing all the sights and sniffs he can soak in. In my experience, Rocky might do best as an only dog. He was very stimulated by our cat, so I kept them separated Rocky can become startled by sudden movements, so a calm environment would be preferrable. Small or hyper dogs in the home would not be ideal. I left Rocky alone with my other dog for no more than 3 hours. Though he did bark for first few minutes as he could see me walking away, but he would calm down and just stayed in his beds or sofa."
