My story

Meet Denzel!Denzel is a 5-year-old low rider with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. He’s on the road to recovery—gaining healthy weight—and he’s showing more of his sweet, gentle personality every day.In foster, Denzel has done wonderfully with the 17-pound senior resident dog and the household’s three cats. He’s respectful of both cats and dogs, giving space where needed, and has even ignored a few cat swipes without a fuss. While he hasn’t had the chance to engage in contact play yet, he shows signs he’d enjoy playing with the right dog friend.Denzel has come a long way from freezing at the sight of a leash to now walking beautifully and calmly—even around unleashed or reactive dogs. He’s clearly been through some tough times and can still be a bit wary of doorways or sudden movements, but he’s learning that the world isn’t so scary anymore, especially with loving guidance.This sweet boy adores people. He loves soaking up affection and will happily stare into your soul while you pet him. He’s been gentle and kind with every person he’s met and would likely do well with older, respectful kids. Recently, he’s discovered the joy of soft toys and now proudly carries them around the house.Denzel is ready to leave his past behind and find a calm, compassionate home that will give him the patience and love he deserves. In return, he’ll be the most devoted, grateful companion you could ask for.
