My story

Runi is a 5-year-old, 60 lb. Malinois-Shepard mix looking for a special forever home. She’s a happy goofy girl who is smart, eager to please, crate and potty trained, and knows multiple tricks. Once she bonds with you, it can take some time as she is very shy/fearful with new people, she becomes incredibly affectionate and trusting. She cannot go to dog parks or off-leash social scenes—she is reactive around other animals and needs to stay leashed on walks. While she's energetic and fun, she will do best in an adult-only home, with no other pets or children. She is currently thriving on a low-dose medication to manage mild seizures. She’s got a big heart and a goofy soul, just waiting for the right human(s) to share her life with. She loves when you cheer or clap when she gets her toy – you can tell she’s proud with the way she walks. She will grumble and talk to you when she wants something – if her water bowl is empty, she will talk and “dig it up.” We make her do some tricks for meal times, sit and wait while we put the bowl down and then release – all meals are “dinner” or “dinner time.” If dinner or bones/treats are really good she does the cute happy rub/roll after eating. She does the cutest morning stretch and is always told “oh big stretch” and will look so proud. She does her stretch and some rubs on the side of the bed then its time to “go outside” for morning potty time and lizard check. She loves “cookies” and will take gentle (if a reminder is needed “gentle” and she will take it very sweet). She can catch cookies – ask her if she’s ready and then toss. She is not possessive over bones/toys/whatever (PEOPLE ONLY) – just ask her to give. Bath time – Just have to ask her to get in the tub or walk in the shower – I’ll usually say “get in” or “in please.” She’ll pop right in and let you wash her no problem and is also great with a towel dry. Nails – clipper or light Dremel is fine. I have her lay down for trims. Bath and nails are very easy once she trusts the person.Medication – She has had one seizure, but because the history with her siblings also having seizures, we have her on a small dose phenobarbital. One pill AM/PM – She takes her meds no problem with a spoon of wet dog food or cheese. We call it “snack time.”Runi loves:• Swimming and playing with the garden hose• Chasing lizards• Carrying around her favorite toys • Playing “soccer” with her tennis ball and a toy in her mouth• Camping and Hiking• Helping in the garden    Commands/Tricks:• Come – “Come” “Come Here” “Let’s go”• Stay – “Stay” “Wait”• Release – “OK”• Spin - “Turn”• Shake Hands – “Shake” “Other Paw”• Sit – “Sit”• Down – “Down” “Lay Down”• Jump – “Up”• Toy - “Get a Toy”• Give – “Give” “Drop”• Go Around your back – “Around” “Behind”• Through Legs – “Through”• Get Excited – “Ready?”• Potty Time – “Gotta go potty?” “Potty Time?” (She will touch door handle)o Asking her to go – “Go Potty” “PeePee for nite nite”• Bed Time – “Go your spot” (She sleeps in her crate at nite – if shes talking in her crate she needs water or peepee timethen she will go to bed)• Lizard chasing – “Did you get ‘em?” “Where are they?”• Activity is Stopped – “All Done” “Nope, All Done”• Leave it alone – “Leave it” Interested in adopting this pet?
