My story

Hi, I'm Butters! 🧈🐾 I’m back at the shelter through no fault of my own—after being adopted, I was sadly abandoned. But don’t worry, I’m in good hands. Right now, I’m staying with a foster who’s known me for a while and is making sure I’m comfy, cared for, and loved while I wait for my real forever home. I’m a sweet, loving guy with a playful, goofy streak once I warm up to you. I can be shy with new people at first (stranger danger is real!), so I may need a few visits before you really see my true personality. But trust me—it’s worth the wait! I bond hard with my people, and once I do, I’m your loyal shadow. Yep, I’m a total velcro dog. If you’re on the couch, I’m on the couch. If you’re in the kitchen, I’m right behind you—just in case you drop a snack. (Did I mention I’m very food motivated?) I’d thrive in an active home with folks who love being outside. I’m the perfect buddy for walks, hikes, or backyard games. I’ve got a good mix of energy and chill, so once I’ve had my exercise, I’m happy to snuggle up for some couch potato time. Just don’t be surprised if I hog all the attention while I’m at it. I’m smart, strong-willed, and a bit stubborn (what can I say—I know what I like!). That said, I’m also a quick learner, especially when treats are involved. I’ll do best in an experienced household with older kids who understand I need time to build trust. I’ve done well with other dogs, though I can be a little pushy at first, so slow introductions are key. I’ve even met cats before and didn’t pay them much mind, so I could fit well into a multi-pet home. One more thing: I ride really well in the car! So if you're the road-tripping type, I’m all in. 🐶🚗 Because I can be unsure with new people, multiple visits are required before going home.
