My story

What could be better than coming home to a dog greeting you with full body wiggles and a big stuffed toy in her mouth? Chloe`s needs are simple, and she`s SO ready to provide her next family smiles, wags, and company. Sweet Chloe is about 6 years old, with medium energy and plenty of stamina and zest for life. At around 50 lbs, this pretty white and brindle pittie is the definition of resilience – spending most of her life as a sidekick to her dad, who unfortunately got sick and was unable to continue caring for her. Although Chloe’s life was turned upside-down a bit, she`s taken it all in stride and is ready to connect with her new person. A dedicated volunteer has been taking her on regular `sleepovers` that include lots of walks and hikes and just time resting and enjoying home life. He`s reported that Chloe has done great on hikes and walks alone and with other (sometimes large) groups of dogs, she sleeps well with him and loves soft places to rest and sleep and to have a couple of nice soft toys to carry around. She`s slightly nervous around female dogs, seems more comfortable with male dogs, and plays quite well with other dogs, but enjoys being the center of attention as an `only dog` at home. .with other dogsstill has a lot of energy and stamina. Sunday was a full day out hiking and then she took advantage of the quiet time at home to rest and relax. `She does snore (LOL!). Her overall joy and happiness is fun to be a part of. She’s appreciative of any positive activity.” If you are in need of a bit of sunshine in your life – look no further than Chloe!Chloe`s adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel,

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CHLOE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
