My story

Approximate Age: 1.5 years old Approximate Weight: 8 lbs Meet Delphi! I may have special needs but I am happy working with my person to navigate them! - I am blind - One eye did require removal - I am uncomfortable with dogs or cats right in my face. - I love to have a little puppy playpen or a safe space. - I leash walk well but clicks or verbal direction help me feel more confident in navigating. - I find my food and water bowl best if it’s not moved around. I thrive on routine. - My best friend is a 7 year old child who handles me gently with love and giggles. - I can be vocal if I don’t know who walked into a room. - I went for a spay and was identified to have both male and female anatomy. I am full of love for my person and don’t have to have other dogs to be happy in life but I am coexisting currently with 2 cats and 3 dogs that respect my request for space. I was probably picked on a lot in my prior situation. You won’t find a more attached pup, I know I need you and I will melt into the safety of your arms quickly. Rescue story: Came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Kentucky, where over 70 dogs were struggling to survive outdoors with little food, scarce water, and only dirt to sleep on. Still learning that people can be kind—needs a patient adopter who will give her time, love, and gentle guidance. Unfamiliar with basic comforts but eager to learn; will thrive with a routine, stability, and lots of reassurance. Requirements And Donations - Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS). - Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. - Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies. - Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available. Location And Hours - Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 11 AM-3 PM; Sunday 11 AM-1 PM. - We also host adoption events throughout our community.
