Birdie came to us from our rescue partner after being released from a commercial breeder. She is estimated to be between 3-4 years old. Like a lot of other breeder releases that we see Birdie is timid in certain situations especially including loud noises. We believe that at this time Birdie would do best with no children in the home. This is because of her herding instincts but also because a lot of louder noises will scare her. Her ideal home would involve adults only willing to get her comfortable and confident in herself and their relationship. Thankfully Birdie’s want to want for attention outweighs her timidness in the right setting so she will infact try and be near you. She loves the attention and has no problem asking for more. Due to her reactions towards loud noises we would prefer that she goes to a more residential neighborhood that doesn’t have a lot of busy traffic sounds that would cause her to be uncomfortable. She absolutely can have a home with or without a yard as the environment itself would be a more important factor. She prefers free roaming compared to a crate. She is being fostered with dogs in her home and is doing well but we believe a dog with lower energy would be best for her if there is a resident dog. She is doing great on leash walking. She is overall an amazing girl who just needs a little patience and love to help her continue finding the confidence we know is in here. Birdie’s home must be within 3 hours of Chicago. Her adoption fee includes her spay, heartworm test (negative), up to date vaccines and preventatives, and microchip. If you would like to be considered for Birdie apply directly. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Birdie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
