My story

Meet Jose - the wise old man of our recent intake of eight chihuahuas. We are guessing Jose at 7 years, but he acts like a much younger dog. Poor Jose has alopecia which is likely a hereditary condition in his case (google 'color dilution alopecia'). With it, he also sometimes has itchy skin and scratches all over, which may need chronic management with anti-itch meds and medicated baths. The good news is that only the grey part of his head is bald - he has the Yoda vibe!Jose is easily the friendliest of our chihuahuas and is surprisingly playful for his age - he enjoys tossing around a favorite toy and the occasional zoomie. He most loves to be a lap warmer. He is working on his house manners still - a belly band might be needed, although he is getting better at going outside and using the papers in his foster home. While Jose loves all of his pack, he does not tolerate fools and will growl and snarl at the younger dogs when they intrude in his space/lap. None of the chis are leash trained yet - he can learn but is still a little timid when in new environments. Learning to go on walks is going to be a process with him. If you are looking for an older lap warmer with character, don't scroll past Jose! He's a little charmer! MUST HAVE SECURELY FENCED YARD.
