Courtesy Post! Foster or Adopter needed! Cowboy came from a colony where cats were being TNRd, meaning volunteers would humanely trap, neuter, and then return the cats to the outside colony where they had been living. Nearly all the cats were feral and uninterested in being friends with humans. But Cowboy and two other cats seemed friendly. Cowboy let one of the volunteers pet him through the trap and leaned in for more. She wondered if maybe, just maybe, indoor, real homes could be found for these nice cats. What a gift that would be! Some cat colonies have devoted caretakers who can regularly feed the cats and even provide medical care if the cats get sick. Others, like the colony Cowboy came from, are not so fortunate. The volunteer had to move quickly to find Cowboy and the other two friendly cats a place to go temporarily while she searched for more permanent placements. At the very last minute, a kind foster home offered to keep Cowboy, Bluebell, and Dusty for a while so they could get used to being indoors and decompress. Their time in that foster home, however, is up, and they need new foster or forever homes now, or they will be heading back to the colony. Here's what Cowboy will need in his new foster or forever home: Patience. Cowboy needs his people to give him space, a little time to settle in. He'd do best with people who don't mind sitting quietly in the room with him, without trying to touch him, to pet him, to pick him up. People who are willing, ultimately, to let him come to them. Cowboy enjoys hanging out and sleeping. He's a total couch potato and an excellent napper. He's also good with other cats. If you're able to read a book, take a nap, contemplate life, while Cowboy does his own thing, you just might be the perfect match for him. P.S. Cowboy will need to finish the medicine for his eyes, which, as you can see, are a little bit gunky still, but have improved a lot. (If he is returned to the colony, no one will be available to give him his medicine.) Cowboy deserves to spend his days napping in the sun, not worrying about predators sneaking up on him outside. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info on Cowboy. He's in the Kansas City metro, but transport might be available to the right home.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cowboy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
