Say hello to Iris, a sweet and spunky 10–12 month old Papillon-Spaniel mix weighing just 10.5 pounds. Rescued from a crowded shelter, Iris charmed our volunteers from the moment she arrived, and she's been thriving in her foster home! Don’t let her petite size fool you—this little pup is full of heart, charm, and personality! Iris starts her day at 7:30ish with a morning stroll and some cuddle time before settling into her pen to relax while her foster parent works. She enjoys a couple of longer walks throughout the day, sprinkled with training, socializing, and lots of lounging. Evenings are spent curled up with the family, a quick potty break before bed, and she sleeps peacefully in her cozy pen overnight. Iris has blossomed into a friendly, curious, and affectionate companion. She's a sweet, curious puppy with a low-to-moderate energy level. She’s playful and loves engaging with people but is just as happy lounging on the couch or napping nearby. She’s social, affectionate, and always ready to explore her surroundings with a waging tail and upbeat attitude. She’s gentle and respectful, especially with her small-breed foster sister, and adapts beautifully to the energy of the home. Iris loves walks, outdoor adventures, and carrying sticks twice her size, but she’s equally content to snuggle on the couch. She walks wonderfully on leash, rarely barks, and is well on her way to being fully housetrained. While she’s not crate-trained, she does very well in a gated pen and can be left alone for periods without issue. Iris does well with other small dogs and has shown sweet curiosity around kids. She hasn’t been tested with cats, but her overall gentle nature suggests she’d adapt well with proper introductions. What makes Iris special? She has a unique and adorable take on basic obedience— when learning to “sit,” she performs a graceful bow on all fours that looks very classy and elegant! She’s incredibly loving and people-focused. She’s food-motivated, eager to learn, and always up for a cuddle. Iris would thrive in a home where she can be part of the daily rhythm, go for walks, ride in the car, and snuggle up with her humans at the end of the day. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and playful pup with a gentle soul and a goofy streak, Iris just might be the perfect match. May 2, 2025, 4:29 am
