My story

Merlin EmrysFirst of all, I want to answer your questions regarding my feet. I am polydactyl, meaning I have more toes than a normal cat. A normal cat has 5 toes on each fore paw and 4 on each hind paw. Polydactyl cats can have as many as nine toes on their front and/or hind paws. It`s genetic, so mom or dad must have been polydactyl. I happen to think it is very cool. I could hitchhike. I am a 6-years-old male and 18.7 pounds of charming orange tabby. I lived with my second owner for four years before moving into a new home with two existing male and female cats. After two months of introduction, any bonds we formed deteriorated. The male cat and I tussled all the time. The female cat just ignored me. So, I am now at the HSHC, waiting to find my forever home. Here`s the funny thing. The nine-year-old Pit Bull and I were friends! I have enjoyed spending time with young kids, especially the 13-year-old. I like to be held, petted, and cuddled. I can be playful if you bring out the toys; I`m very kitten-like. The interviewer lady (IL) told me I was a kitten in a huge body! I love to try to escape my little two-room apartment when volunteers are socializing with me. She also said I would be happiest in a home without cats, but giving me a long, gradual introduction period with the cats you already have will be crucial. I also need to lose some weight. I`m a friendly, super-affectionate cat, and the HSHC staff can provide you with all the information you`ll need to understand my personality and behavior. 5-7-25
