My story

Jewel is still figuring out the world around her and could use a steady, experienced adopter to help guide her. Her previous owners shared that she lived with other dogs, and while they described her as lazy at home, she’s also got high energy and will benefit from structure, outlets, and patience. Jewel doesn’t have much leash experience and is still learning the ropes – but with the right person, she’s ready to shine. She just needs time, training, and love to thrive. Meet Jewel at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10 am to 6 pm Videos: Beautiful Jewel loves scritches: https://youtube.com/shorts/ui6UzsstXb4?feature=shared Petting shy Jewel: https://youtube.com/shorts/0lcH2cMxFmg?si=Lnz-jtq9z_5mKWTd Jewel meets Tiger: https://youtube.com/shorts/JY9v3VgXa9M?si=RTZ1TCEtkIBULlgV Behavioral: 05/07/2025 volunteer notes: Jewel has come out of her shell really well with me. Today I approached her kennel and she did not react whatsoever. She came up to me with low tail wags and I was able to easily leash her and she walked out of her kennel with no problem. Outside she was wiggly with me. She would often come over and jump on me soliciting pets. She was very affectionate and just seemed to want attention from me. I took her in the volunteer room where a staff member was in the room with us and she did not react at all towards the other staff member. She sniffed around the room and just hung out with me, allowing me to pet her and allowed all handling with me. I also did a dog meet with her with tiger and she did really well. She was super tolerant of him. She did have a high tail at first, but she did relax as the meet went on and was super tolerant. She took treats for me very nicely and walked right back in her kennel for me. 05/08/2025 volunteer notes: A volunteer brought Jewel into the office. She has a loose body with a low tail, but was jumping up at the volunteer to solicit petting. She allowed all over pets and was very friendly. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jewel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
