My story

Hey! I’m Underdog — your future little sidekick with a big personality. 🐾💥 Okay, let’s get the important stuff out of the way first: I’m not your average lap dog. I’m a 2-year-old chiweenie with major main character energy. I’ve been through a lot (including a transfer from another shelter), and I’ve got a few quirks that make me best suited for an experienced, patient, and understanding home. Yup, I’ve had a bite incident in my past. I don’t love the vet, and I can be a little extra when it comes to toys. In fact, I do best in a home with no toys or bones, since I tend to guard them and have bitten before because of it. But here’s the thing—I’m not a bad dog. I’m a work-in-progress. I’ve got a heart full of love and a mind that’s always working. I just need someone who gets that trust takes time and that I’m worth the effort. Multiple meet-and-greets? Yep, I’ll need those. But once I know you, I’m all in. I’ll follow you around like your shadow (I am a Velcro dog), curl up next to you for couch time, and keep you laughing with my goofy antics. Oh—and did I mention I’m a high jumper? You’ll definitely want a secure yard if I’m going to be your hiking or running buddy. I do great in the car, and I’m super smart and quick to learn new things. With the right guidance and training, I’ll keep becoming the best version of myself. I’m playful, affectionate, and totally ready to bond deeply with someone who sees past my rough edges.
