My story

Meet MacArthur 'Mac' ASTRONAUT!! MacArthur, is a 12 lb, 14 year old NEUTERED MALE Schnauzer Mix that came to us when his owner passed away. Mac, as we affectionally call him is fully vaccinated, microchipped and parasite free.  While this dapper gentleman charms you with his good looks Mac’s demeanor will capture your heart. He is a 100% cuddle bug, who is gentle and playful. He is as happy cuddled up behind you while you are watching tv or if there is a spare recliner, he will claim it. Show him a leash, and he gets excited. All that matters to him is being a companion. He needs a home where there is someone home most of the time or they can take him with them. He is fine being in a kennel…as long as he can see you. This 12 year-old, 14 pound terrier mix came to UOH after his person passed. You can tell he was her constant companion because he is happy as long as he is in the presence of someone. He settled into his foster home immediately - ready to give affection and play with the resident dog. House Trained Mac doesn’t ask to out but will willingly go out in the backyard when the door is opened and you walk out with him or he will eagerly wait for the leash to be put on to go for a walk. If you keep him on a schedule, there are no accidents. Favorite Activities Mac loves a Kong with peanut butter to keep him busy. When time to nap, he is happiest when he can doze off next to you. Dog Friendly Mac gets along great with other dogs. Food Enthusiast He’s not picky and very enthusiastic about food however Mac does not like to dine alone…who does? He likes company while he eats or else he will walk away from his dish to find his person. Walks Mac loves to walk. Want to know what he loves more…finding the only loose board in the fence and going to introduce himself to the neighbors. Typical terrier a.k.a master escape artist! Secure yard and always on leash when out and about are a must. Grooming He is ok with having nails trimmed, being bathed and groomed. He enjoys being brushed. House Manners Mac doesn’t bark much in the house - typical doorbell reaction and when new people come over. He joins the others dogs barking when outside if he hears them. He’s will sleep in a crate and spend time in there IF the crate is in a room where he knows someone is there. Mac would thrive in any home where he is not left alone much. Older kids are recommended just because younger kids might leave doors open and Mac would take off. Mac is an amazing companion who is affectionate, playful, active and smart. He is sure to bring joy to his new home. Mac is fostered in Vacaville and potential adopters will have to meet him there. If you'd like to make Mac a HUGE part of your family email us at beourpet@gmail.com OR fill out the online application at www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php.  Let's help Mac find his forever home to live out the rest of his life!!We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  June 17, 2025, 3:15 pm
