Stunning Sparkles

My story

Gorgeous Sparkles was surrendered to a kill shelter in NYC after her dog housemate bit the owner's child. Though Sparkles had done nothing wrong, the owner demanded, “Get these dogs out of here!” and both were discarded. Sparkles, sweet and innocent, was cast into a loud, crowded shelter where she quickly landed on the euthanasia list—simply for lack of space. We went to great lengths to save this 4.5-year-old beauty, and today, she is in a foster home, rediscovering life, safety, and joy. Sparkles is a gentle, sensitive soul with a heart full of love. She’s sweet, affectionate, and adores being outside, sniffing and exploring her surroundings. She knows “sit,” responds well to redirection, and is food-motivated—making her both trainable and eager to please. Currently the only dog in her foster home, Sparkles has previously lived with another dog and, with proper introductions, can be dog-friendly. She has not been cat-tested. She turns heads everywhere she goes—not just because of her striking beauty, but because of her calm, soulful presence. Sparkles is shy at first, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into the biggest love bug. She loves being close to her people. She’s intelligent, playful, and deeply affectionate. Sparkles has known abandonment and fear, and she needs a patient, dog-savvy person or family who understands that she may need time to decompress and trust. She won’t be perfect on day one—but she is harmless, deeply loving, and absolutely worth the wait. An active home would be ideal to help her make up for lost time. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus, but is not required. Sparkles weighs 48 lbs, is house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Foster-to-adopt options available.
