My story

Pixel is guessed to be a 1.5 yr old Terrier, around 10 lbs, and has had a rough past judging by her fear of humans. The way to win her trust is by sitting/laying on the floor, ignoring her, and letting her come to you at her own pace. She truly enjoys watching other small dogs (who are not in your face) and she loves running in the yard with them. She likes small plush toys that squeak and she will form a bond if given the time to trust you. Pixel will cower or run if you reach for her and she should be leashed at all times outside, because she is a high flight risk even if she trusts you. She must have a quiet home with no yelling and very few visitors. She enjoys her large crate with the door left open, it is her safe spot, and she spends a good amount of time in it watching everyone and learning what life in a home is. Pixel will need a home with another young, small dog, because this is what brings her out of her shell and they can teach her how to "dog". She is best suited with someone experienced with fearful dogs. She has separation anxiety when left crated; (even with other dogs still present) and will tear up her crate possibly injuring herself. She will need a very patient and loving home. Pixel is bit of a shedder and is waiting in Aurora.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pixel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
