My story

Scooby has every reason to be guarded—his past was marked by pain, neglect, and a heartbreaking betrayal of trust. But against all odds, this brave boy has chosen love. When he first arrived, he was injured and exhausted, with labored breathing and wounds from a life he never asked for. And yet, even in his most vulnerable state, Scooby was gentle. He allowed handling, leaned into affection, and quietly accepted care with a kind of grace that stops you in your tracks. Now that he’s healing, Scooby’s soft, soulful personality is blooming. He’s learning that people can be kind, that leashes mean walks (not fear), and that a scratch behind the ears is worth pausing everything for. He loves to be close—so close, in fact, that he’ll press against your legs like a living shadow. (If you’re petite, consider this fair warning: Scooby’s love comes with the occasional unintentional knee-check.) He’s shown no signs of reactivity, even in a busy shelter, and has started giving out shy little kisses to the people he’s learning to trust. Scooby is ready for a life that finally matches the goodness he’s always carried inside him. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home.
