My story

George is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Scroll through his pictures to see his cute video content! George is the sweetest 7-year-old that was recently returned to us after being adopted as a two month old puppy. George was very sad the first couple of days, and shut down. Every day since then we see more of a sparkle in his eye, and a cute new side of his personality. George has melted all of our hearts, including his foster mom's who is a volunteer and who took George home to foster. Like most people, George's foster mom likes a housebroken, easy dog-- and that is exactly what George is! His foster mom says that George loves long walks (and he is very easy and pleasant to walk!), running around in the yard, and playing with a tennis ball. But George will also sit quietly in the room as you work, read or watch TV. He is a great work from home companion. George loves his people and wants to be near his people, but he is not needy and is kind of an independent guy. He wants to sit next to you on the couch, but he isn't going to try to sit on top of you for pets! George probably thinks that type of behavior is for babies, and he is a grown man! George has never been crated because he can be trusted to free roam for several hours. While George does not live with a dog currently, he made several dog friends at the shelter in playgroup, as you can see in his videos. When George comes to stay at the shelter, he lives in the staff office with 1-3 teeny tiny dogs! It is so cute. They all love George, and he does not pay much attention to them! George is so ready to find a home that is ready to adore him like we all do. He is such a gentleman, and so well trained. Whoever adopts George is so lucky. Please inquire about him today! George’s adoption fee is $250. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt George, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
