My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You can see more beautiful dogs by visiting our Adoptable Dogs page. *** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Ashi, the laid-back, always smiling Pyrenees is ready to join your family for strolls around the block followed by an evening filled with stretching out on the living room floor for a good snooze. He is always happy to roll over on his back to allow his human to rub his belly! Ashi is a true Pyr and takes his guardian role seriously; standing big in the middle of the yard where he can take everything in to ensure he can keep his eye on any dangers and give a big Pyr warning bark! He will even jump up from his job holding the carpet down to run to the window to warn off any suspicious noise and then right back into the stretched-out legs up position for Ashi. Ashi needs to gain at least 20 pounds, so prefers to dine alone to ensure he gets plenty of nourishment. Ashi gets along with the other dogs but is not a big player so an easy-going, laid-back female would be a perfect companion; or he would be equally happy as an only dog! He will get spurts of energy, wanting to play with his person. Ashi is polite with kittens too! This boy has such gentleness about him, walking close to his person, listening to every word they say. He is a dream; he stands nicely for grooming time and jumps right into the vehicle for a ride. Ashi’s ideal home will be with a person(s) with Big Dog experience and who will enjoy spending time just loving him. Add in a large, 5-foot fenced yard to protect, and plenty of patience and time, and Ashi’s world will be complete! Ashi has his bags packed and is ready to move in - do you have an extra dog bed?   NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Ashi in KY  Age: 3 yrs 4 mos old as of June 2025  Color: White with cream badger markings Dew Claws: Yes, Double   Estimated Adult Weight: 100 lbs   Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Richmond, KY  Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. June 4, 2025, 12:05 pm
