My story

Slinky is what happens when the universe tries to make a Great Pyrenees but runs out of fabric halfway through. Fully grown at just 40 pounds, she’s the “Lesser Pyrenees” you didn’t know you needed -- same fluff, less space.This 4-year-old land cloud is everything you could want in a dog: house-trained, non-destructive, a world-class cuddler, and quietly playful. But despite all that, her last home wasn’t the sanctuary she deserved. Slinky came to Animal Aid after being surrendered, heartworm-positive and heart-heavy.Animal Aid covers the full cost of her heartworm treatment, even after you bring her home. What she needs now is something we can’t provide here: a calm, quiet place to heal her spirit spirit. Someone gentle, patient, and steady enough to coax her through the fog. Slinky has seen some stormy weather, and it’s left her a little withdrawn -- still sweet, but very cautious.We’re looking for a home with no kids under 12 where she can start to trust again. She doesn't need loud fanfare or grand gestures. She just needs you, a couch, a treat or two, and a little time to remember that not all people disappear when the skies get cloudy.Slinky’s ready to believe in sunny days again.
