Meet Lady Aubrey, a beautiful, complex soul with a heart that’s still learning how to trust. She was found running loose through a subdivision and had to be humanely trapped, so her past remains a mystery. What we do know is that she's been through a lot, and she deserves a future filled with patience, compassion, and understanding. Lady Aubrey is fearful and cautious with new people and takes her time warming up, especially with men. Every once in a while, someone surprises us by becoming her fast friend. She’ll need a few slow introductions and a commitment to visiting several times before heading home, but once she lets you in, it’s truly special. Life in the shelter is tough on her. She’s been too stressed to show much interest in food or toys, but in a quiet foster home, her playful side came out. She even tossed around her stuffies. That glimpse gives us hope for the kind of happy dog she could be with the right environment. Lady Aubrey has shown barrier reactivity to most dogs but has also coexisted peacefully off-leash with select companions at the shelter. She generally ignores small critters on walks but hasn’t officially been introduced to cats. We’re seeking an adult-only, low-traffic home for Lady Aubrey—somewhere calm and predictable, without a steady stream of visitors. German Shepherd experience and confident handling skills are essential. She’s not a dog for first-timers, but for someone who understands her breed and is willing to go slow, she has so much to give. If you believe that trust is earned, not given, and you’re ready to show this special girl the patience and safety she deserves, Lady Aubrey might just be waiting for you. If interested, please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine before you visit.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lady Aubrey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
