My story

Location: Richfield, MN Hi! My name is Varadero but my foster family calls me Remy. I love toys! I like to collect all the stray toys in the house in my safe space because I didn’t get to have any toys before coming to my foster family. My safe space is my kennel and I feel really comfy in there. I sleep in there overnight but during the day I like it best when it’s open so I can come out for pets and love whenever I want but can go back in if things get a little scary (like when my foster mom dances!). I’ve been with my foster family for three months. I love it here but no one has asked to meet me yet. My foster family tells me that someone will take me to my forever home soon and I’m so excited!!! I would love to live with another dog who I can learn from and play with. I don’t pay much mind to the cat here but we get along ok so I’d be ok with a kitty friend too! Before being rescued, my two brothers and I ran wild in South Dakota. In order to survive, I had to learn to be cautious of new things but I’m slowly starting to learn that people can be safe and kind! It took me a bit to warm up but now I love cuddling with my foster family in bed and holding their hands with my paws. I had never really been inside before being rescued, though, so I’m still learning some of the finer details of being an indoor doggie. I am mostly potty trained but sometimes something is sooo scary and new that I can’t help but have an accident inside. Being leashed is still pretty scary for me but I’m learning every day. In the meantime, though, I’d probably do best with a fenced in yard. I also don’t know all the tricks yet like my foster sisters but I know how to sit and will happily do it for a treat! My foster family thinks it’s really cute when I take a treat from them because I’m so gentle and very careful to not let my teeth touch them. Sometimes when I get scared I’m a little embarrassed but my foster family likes to remind me that I’m brave too! I’m curious about new things and people. I take some prescription medication to help me be brave on stressful days like when my foster parents have to work so I’m home without them for a few hours or when there are lots of loud noises outside. It really helps me chill out on days like those! I’ve had a great time with my foster family but I’m ready to meet my forever family. My brothers were adopted awhile back and they’re doing great in their new homes so I know I’d do great too. Will you give me a chance at a forever family? Love 🐾, Remy PS - my brother got his DNA tested. I know I’m 100% cute but if you care about that sort of thing here are the results: Australian Cattle Dog (43.5%), German Shepherd (19.9%), Pembroke Welsh Corgi (13.3%), Miniature Australian Shepherd (12.1%), Siberian Husky (6.7%) and Border Collie (4.5%). --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Varadero, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
