Ruby Tuesdee (fka Alisha) is an affectionate girl who loves people and welcomes attention with a sweet, friendly demeanor. She was found as a stray and quickly won hearts with her easygoing nature and calm energy. Ruby Tuesdee is easy to handle and walks nicely on her leash. During a recent dog meet, she showed polite and peaceful avoidance, choosing not to engage when the other dog was vocal—giving clear signs she prefers a more relaxed environment. She’s looking for a home where she can feel safe, loved, and be someone’s best pal. She hasn’t displayed any health concerns while staying with me. Ruby has been doing wonderfully at the house. She is completely house trained and has not had any accidents. She sleeps through the night and waits for me to get up before getting out of bed with me and being let outside to do her business. She loves to cuddle in bed. She is alone for about 8 hours a day and free roams the house when I am gone. She has not gotten into anything she isn’t supposed to get into or damaged anything. She simply waits for me to get back home. She doesn’t like being left alone or shut out of rooms and will cry at first but she eventually accepts it. The more comfortable she gets the more accepting she becomes that you will come back later or are okay on the other side of the door. Ruby is excited by small dogs and small animals on walks and is able to detect my cats’ presence in another section of the house. She is very intelligent, food motivated and eager to please so it’s possible she could learn to co-exist with cats with enough time and patience - for Ruby’s sake though her ideal home might not include small animals she can chase around. Ruby sometimes barks at dogs her size or larger at the start of our walks but by the end of the walk she appears interested in meeting large dogs, sometimes trying to get closer to smell them. She hasn’t growled at any animals or people since being here. She has a wonderful disposition. She greets people with a wagging tail and kisses on walks and everyone she meets loves her. She hasn’t jumped up on me or anyone else during her stay. She likes all people equally and has had some very positive interactions with older kids. People always comment on how beautiful she is. At home she is always by my side wherever I am in the house. She loves long lasting dog chew treats and started playing with her stuffed toy pig recently. She likes to listen to classical mus ic to drown out the outside noise. She has a big bark for her small size and is easily redirected with attention or treats. Ruby appears to have come from an English speaking home - she knows the commands: Sit, Stay, Leave it, and is learning Relax as a code word on walks. She is a good walker; easy to redirect with treats and positive reinforcement. She is eager to learn good manners when it comes to pulling - she is already doing much better than when we started often walking by my side. At any point I can ask her to sit to redirect and she will almost always do it on the first command. She is still recovering from being spayed so she isn’t up to full strength but I have a feeling she would enjoy a nice run alongside her person every now and then. Open palm treats are the way to start with this treats lover. Ruby LOVES to eat so teaching this darling girl anything is possible with a treat in your hand and positive reinforcement. 04/29/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Nervous, low growls when surrounded, avoidant, scared, steerable, exit searching, handler oriented04/28/2025 volunteer notes: Removed from crate for dog meet. She was easy to loop and walk on leash and was avoidant of the dog at the fence. Tail high not wagging, averting gaze, giving her side, moving away and not moving closer again. Avoidant and moved farther away when the other dog vocalized at her through the fence. Easy to return to her crate and remove the leash. 04/27/2025 Staff notes, intake: Very friendly and easy to handle and loves attention. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
