You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Happy, active Bully!Herbie is a 2 year-old, 46 pound, neutered American Bully. This sweet boy is all things young bullies should be - Happy, Goofy, Pushy, Silly, and of course, a bit stubborn, but that is just his Bully charm. His ideal home will not only appreciate the Bully charm, but will understand and advocate for his unique needs. Those who know Bully breeds understand their special qualities that require additional care: breathing issues, skin allergies, ear and eye management, sensitive tummies, and heat sensitivity. Herbie, like most Bullies, will need special attention paid to these areas. In addition, he came to SVPP quite anemic due to harsh handling by the previous humans in his life. He is doing well now, but will require some monitoring for the foreseeable future. We asked his foster mom how she would describe Herbie, and she said, " I have had a few dogs and he is by far one of the best listeners. He listens well to commands (when ready) well behaved, potty trained, crate trained, loving, respectful, not destructive in the house, mellow and chill as long as he gets his exercise which isn’t much. Goofy and so fun. Always up for an adventure. He can be your side kick and he will just go along for the ride. He had a horrible past but his spirit is so strong and he is resilient. He hasn’t let his past stop him from trusting and loving everyone he meets. He is intelligent, food motivated, and wants to please you so he is very easy to train. In a short period of time, He has learned go to your crate, go to your bed, sit, stay, wait, touch, paw (both sides), down, and spin. He is very in tune with your emotions and watches your facial expressions to gauge your mood. He is easy to handle - cleaning his paws, ears, applying balm to his nose and other parts of his body are all non-issues. He loves a good bath. He sits the whole time you wash him. He does great at the vet." While Herbie has many basic commands mastered, leash walking is an ongoing project. He can get overly curious and excited, so needs to continue working wit his human on staying calm and focused on walks. Great ways to expend Herbie's energy include fetch, tug-of-war, food puzzles, and sniffing game of "find it." He can get jumpy when playing and for a little bully, he has an impressive jump! Herbie would love to be your one and only. He can do well with other dogs with a proper, slow intro, but at home, he wants to cuddle his humans all on his own. And who can blame him?!
