My story

Meet Rio, an 11-month-old Labrador Retriever mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. He was rescued as a stray in Puerto Rico and made the journey to Big Dog Ranch Rescue in search of the forever home he deserves. Rio has a moderate energy level—he’s always up for a game of fetch or solo playtime with his toys, but he also knows how to wind down and enjoys relaxing with his people. He absolutely loves to cuddle and will happily curl up next to you after a fun play session. This smart young pup already knows some basic commands and is eager to learn more. He walks fairly well on a leash but could benefit from continued training to help him grow into the well-mannered dog he’s meant to be. His eager-to-please nature makes him a great candidate for positive reinforcement training. Rio is dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and would do well in a home with a first-time dog owner. He’s the kind of dog who will thrive with someone who’s ready to offer him guidance, attention, and lots of affection.
