My story

Meet Barbie! This beautiful, sensitive girl came to us all the way from Puerto Rico, where many dogs grow up in unpredictable and often overwhelming environments. Because of her background, Barbie is naturally shy and timid, especially in new situations or when meeting unfamiliar people. She may take a little time to feel safe, but once she begins to trust, her personality starts to shine—playful, affectionate, and incredibly sweet. Barbie absolutely loves to play, and once she’s comfortable, she’ll happily zoom around or engage in gentle games with her favorite toys. She also becomes quite the cuddle bug, seeking out snuggles and leaning in close to the people she trusts most. Barbie does very well with other dogs and would likely thrive with a calm, confident canine companion who can help her build confidence and feel more secure. Due to her shy nature, we believe she would not be a good fit for a home with young children, as sudden movements and loud noises can be overwhelming, though we are still learning more about her individual needs. Her ideal home would be a quiet, stable environment with patient adopters who are willing to move at her pace, give her time to decompress, and gently help her continue to grow. With love, patience, and consistency, Barbie will blossom into a devoted, playful, and loving companion—she just needs someone willing to help her feel safe enough to shine.
