My story

Meet Blue Boy – A Big Softie with an Even Bigger Heart! ???? Blue Boy is a 5-year-old American Bully mix (affectionately known around here as our “gentle hippo”) with soulful eyes, a wiggly butt, and enough love to fill a whole house. He’s had a tough road—left at multiple shelters by the same owner—but he’s finally landed at the Saint Charles County Pet Adoption Center, and we’re determined to help him find the forever home he deserves.Despite his past, Blue Boy’s spirit is intact. Once out of the kennel, his goofy, affectionate personality shines! He’s potty trained, loves meeting new people, and is happiest when he’s close to his humans—especially if neck or booty scratches are involved.?? Smart & Eager to LearnBlue is currently working on training and doing great! He knows sit, down (with a lure), and is learning loose leash walking and check-ins. He’s calm and focused during training and prefers bonding with people over playing with toys. He responds well to praise and direction, and continues to blossom with every session.?? Dog Compatibility:Blue is dog-selective. He does best with calm, submissive dogs but may thrive as the only pet in a home where he can be your one-and-only. His evaluations show he does well with appropriate introductions, but can be uncomfortable with overly assertive dogs.?? Cats? No, thank you.Blue Boy is not a fan of felines and should go to a cat-free home.???????? Kids:Due to his size, strength, and play style, we recommend a home with kids aged 12+. He’s never shown aggression, but will do best with older children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs.?? Ideal Home:Blue Boy needs an experienced owner who understands dog body language and can provide structure, physical activity, and mental enrichment. A secure fence is strongly recommended, as he enjoys exploring and needs a safe space to get his energy out.Despite a bit of kennel reactivity (usually out of stress or excitement), Blue Boy is calm, gentle, and affectionate once he’s out and about. He passed nearly all behavior assessments with Grade A responses, including sociability, toy and food handling, and basic interactions.Blue Boy is the perfect mix of strength and sweetness. He’s loyal, loving, and full of personality. If you’re ready for a devoted companion and can offer him the guidance he needs, Blue Boy will reward you with endless love and loyalty.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt BLUE BOY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
