My story

Rheba is fostered in Canton, MI.   Rheba is a young female Australian Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog Red Heeler mix.  She was purchased by a family who ended up not having any time for her, then tossed in an outside pen.  She turned 1 year in April and weights about 30 lbs. She will continue to fill out a little over the next year and we imagine she will be between 35-42 lbs full grown. Rheba is an energetic one year old freckle-faced goofball with ears for days! She is house-broken, walks on a leash well, crate trained, and knows basic commands. Fetch is her favorite game and she plays like a pro. Rheba adores chasing bubbles, playing with dog-friends, gazing at wildlife through the window, and belly rubs. As a Red Heeler mix, she gathers toys in a pile and is happy to 'herd' her treasures. She enjoys routine, and thrives when she knows the rules.  She is not a dog for a first time dog owner.  She needs good leadership and her human to set her boundaries for her with all positive reinfrocement; but once that happens....watch out!  This girl is BRILLIANT and wants to please her humans.  She is learning to love car rides and tolerates the bath. She is sweet, smart, sensitive, spirited, and eager to learn. She gets along well with dogs in the foster home and matches their energy. She does well with older children who can also reinforce her continued training.  Rheba would like an active home that is willing to continue her training, socialiazation and give her plenty of mental and physical stimulation.  She is a NO when it comes to kitties and chickens.  That prey drive is a bit too strong for her.  She would do best with another submissive and playful dog in the home.   Rheba is spayed, microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases, up to date on all vaccines, and receiving monthly preventatives.  If you are looking for a gorgeous female sidekick and a playful companion, Rheba is your girl.  She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote a minimum of 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day for this young, active pup.  Proof of heartworm prevention for all prior and current pets is required to adopt from our rescue.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2353834##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt 0805 Rheba, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
