 Meet Canela – The Sweet & Spunky Snugglebug! Canela, affectionately known as "Nela" or "Nelly," is a 5-year-old, 18-pound Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as her adorable ears! Originally from Mexico, this little lady has adjusted beautifully to city life with her foster family and is now on the lookout for her forever home. Why You'll Love Canela: A Cuddle Champion – If you're looking for a snuggly best friend, Canela is your girl! She loves cozying up with her humans (and her foster brother!) for warm, relaxing moments. Someone who works from home would be best suited for Calena.  Eager to Please – She has already mastered "sit" and is a quick learner, always looking to make her favorite people proud. Walking & Exploring Enthusiast – Canela enjoys strolls around the neighborhood and is great on a leash! She’s naturally curious, so she’ll need someone to help guide her adventurous spirit and deter her from street treats! Playful & Silly – Though she may be shy at first, Canela’s personality shines once she feels comfortable! She thrives on fun, zoomies, and quality time with her people. Great with Doggy Friends – Canela spends her days at doggy daycare, happily prancing around with other pups. She’d love a home with another small dog to keep her company.   What Canela Needs in Her Forever Home: A patient, loving family willing to continue her potty training with a set schedule and positive reinforcement. An active home that enjoys both adventure and cozy downtime. A secure space (and watchful eyes!) since she’s curious and loves to explore. Canela forms deep bonds, which is lovely—but she may be prone to separation anxiety. To help prevent this, we recommend encouraging independence early on with alone-time training, enrichment toys, and low-key hellos and goodbyes. It will help Canela feel safe and confident on her own! A home with older children who can respect her boundaries and give her time to shine.
