My story

Meet Carter – Gentle Soul Looking for a Loving HomeCarter is a 3-year-old Border Collie mix with a sweetheart and a soft spirit. He came to us with several other dogs, and now he’s the last of the group still waiting for his forever home. But Carter hasn’t given up hope—he’s ready for his second chance.Currently part of our Shy Dog Program, Carter has made incredible progress. Though still timid around unfamiliar people, he’s learning to trust and grow more confident each day. He’s now walking on leash, giving out sweet kisses, and showing just how affectionate he can be. This lovable boy dreams of being someone’s lap dog and is gentle as can be when taking treats.Carter loves the water and would happily splash around in a pool any day. He’d make a great hiking or running partner for someone patient and kind. He’s still a bit scared of toys and thrown balls, but with time and gentle encouragement, he may learn to play in his own way. A training class could also help him build more confidence.Because of his shy nature, we recommend a home with older children and a meet and greet with any resident dogs. Carter has so much love to give—he’s just looking for the right person to share it with. Could that be you?Adoption fees are currently waived! All pets are spay/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CARTER, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
