My story

Animal ID: 938997. How this pet arrived: Toby was adopted out for a short time and returned to our care on 4/27/25. Why Toby is the one for you:Toby is a smart, social dog who's had a few ups and downs finding the right match. He originally came into care due to escape attempts and destructive behavior and has since had a couple of short-term adoptions. Toby enjoys time with people and has done well with other dogs in our care-he's even been a helper dog in playgroups! However, he's not a good fit for homes with cats, small animals, or chickens, as he has a strong prey drive. He's been described as playful and affectionate but can be impulsive and will need a home that can provide structure and daily enrichment. Toby has a history of jumping fences and digging out of yards, so he should not be left unsupervised outdoors. While he has had limited experience with children, he may be a match for the right family. A behavior consult is required for adoption, and we'll provide some helpful online resources to support his transition into a new home. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Toby is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 47 Age: 1yrs 4mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Toby, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
