My story

Meet Sandra Vielma! Sandra is a very smart, playful, and cuddly beagle and hound mix! At only 3 months old, she knows “sit”, “off”, sleeps up to 9 hours overnight in her crate, and is probably 90% potty trained. As soon as you bring out the food, she immediately sits and looks up at you patiently for her food. Her current human foster sister is 3.5 years old and as soon as her toddler foster sister tells Sandra Vielma “Off”, Sandra Vielma lets go of whatever toy she may have or stops jumping up on her human foster sister. She learned this just the second time she was told. Sandra Vielma is very good about napping in her crate and sleeping through the night. As beagles and hounds usually do, she howls when she is scared, in a new situation, or is being fast approached by other kids. However, she finds comfort in looking to her humans for guidance after being initially startled and gets along with humans of all ages—2 years old to 74 years old! Sandra Vielma is currently being fostered with her littermate sister “Sandy Rooney” and two 2.5 years old old kitties. She is currently afraid of the kitties but is becoming a bit more bold and comfortable with them as time goes on. It is unclear how well she would do living with cats long-term, but with guidance of another older dog, she might fair better. She is afraid of other dogs at first (even those half her size!) but after proper introductions and with encouragement, she is fine. Sandra Vielma travels very well! She came alongside her foster family for a 2 hour ride and slept or snuggled in laps the whole time. She pooped and peed when stopped, then rode another 1.5 hours just as easily as the first 2! Adoption Day: June 21st at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM —  an approved adopter must be present to adopt.
