Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! **I tried to share a dog's treat who is three times my size, and that dog said 'no way'. I got a couple of stitches near the bridge of my nose/right eye but it's almost healed and the stitches are due to come out July 5th-7th depending on how it heals. They might be out by the adoption event Saturday.** From the foster: My nickname in my foster home is Joey Tribbiani (from Friends). Like my namesake, I am a goofy and free-spirited puppy! I am being given a report card to describe just how incredible of a pup I am. Adventurousness: I 💯 would love to be your outdoor buddy. I would love nothing more than to learn how to run with you as you get your own exercise in. My energy and long legs make me perfect for this task. I would also love to go on outdoor hikes with you. My favorite place in my foster home is outside. For this reason, I will need a home with a backyard and a pawrent who is willing to take me on daily walks and teach me my manners in this area. Potty Training 7/10. I do pee outside. I have had an accident when I was still new to my foster home. I wear pee bands and they have been wet when I couldn’t make it outside. Joey doesn’t make noise when he needs to go outside to go potty, but he doesn’t get a bit extra hyper. So when you see he is restless, let him out. Chances are he will need to go potty. Snuggles 20/10. He is happiest when he is next to you. He wants to cuddle all the time (when he is not playing with you). He doesn’t realize how big he is and will plop right down on you, or next to you. Appetite 10/10. He loves to eat! However, he should be separated from others while eating. IF he finishes his food quicker than others, the puppy nature takes over and he will go over to help them finish. This got him into a bit of a scuffle that he is currently still healing from. He will eat carrots, apples, cheese and dog treats for sure. He is not food aggressive by any means. But we do have all dogs at different ends of the room and spray any of them who invade another’s space. He has responded well to this. Playfulness: I am very playful and love toys. I also enjoy playing outside. I love squeaky toys. I have a big personality for sure and love to play with other dogs. Sometimes my foster brothers have to let me know they don’t want to play anymore. They will bark at me. I don’t always get the hint so I have to be monitored to learn my manners around other pups. He is a quick learner! Kids: I don’t realize how big I am, so he shouldn’t not be around little kids for their safety. He would do best with older kids (think 6th grade and up). He will need to be monitored with even these kids so he knows what is appropriate to chew on and not. He is very much a puppy who needs to chew and he needs to be around kids who can help teach him these manners. Crate 8/10. I work from home so they are not in the crate very often. However, he does not enjoy it and will cry. It helps to give me a big chew stick to help calm me down and pet me until I relax before closing the crate. He enjoys many things to chew on. Commands: All commands are still new to him and he is still settling into his foster home. Commands as of now 6/29 depend on how attentive he is. “Sit” 70% “Lay” 40% “Down” 40% (as in down from jumping up on us) “Stay” 20% He is very attentive when there are treats present. He loves Beggin Strips and Chewy Milk Bones that we chop up into smaller pieces and use to reward him with. Night Time: He sleeps at the side of the bed in a dog bed. He loves to be near his people. I spread out all of his toys and make sure I can pet him as he gets anxious. He shows anxiety by putting his paws on the bed. I give him a pat on the head and say “down”. And then when he lays, I say good boy and pat him again. He does sleep through the night once he gets to a place where he is calmed down. MISC: Additional Information you need to know. He does take time to settle into his routines. His additional energy (yes he had a great deal of it to begin with) is because he is a bit nervous in his new environment. When he knows he is home, you will notice a much calmer demeanor. He loves to sit on the couch with you and snuggle. He would also love for someone to let him sleep on the bed with. He really is just a very lovable puppy. Overall score: 100% GOOD BOY! He just needs consistency and boundaries in his new home. He is SO eager to please and just wants to be loved. Does this sound like your kind of dog? He is also 100% in his velociraptor phase. It helps to have plenty of variety of things to chew on. He’s not picky. He just needs to know what is appropriate and he will adapt to your rules. He really is a very intelligent pup. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
