My story

Leo is a resilient soul with a soft heart, looking for a fresh start. This sweet Black Mouth Cur mix was rescued from a hoarding situation where love was scarce and fear was plenty. But even after all he's been through, Leo is learning that the world isn’t so scary after all — especially when there are kind people and cozy places to rest.  Leo is around 1 year old and has eyes that can convey any emotion. He’s cautious and standoffish at first, but once he trusts you, his affection is incredibly rewarding and laugh-inducing. Watching him come out of his shell is amazing and this dog-friendly, cat-friendly man deserves his forever family to see love and embrace both his scared and goofy sides. Every day, Leo is discovering that the world can be full of gentle hands, tasty treats, and kind voices. He is working on his potty training, learning to accept love without flinching, and even enjoys quiet time in the sun. Leo would thrive in a calm, patient home with people who understand that healing takes time. He’d do best in a low-traffic environment with adults or older children who will let him move at his own pace. Going for a walk right now is way too scary for Leo, so a fenced-in backyard to make him feel safe is a must.
