My story

Gilbert - Adoption Report Gilbert is a large, active dog who was adopted as a puppy but later returned. He has a tendency to be intimidating to strangers, as he will bark at anyone trying to get into the house or yard. However, once comfortable with a new family, Gilbert will become a very loving and loyal companion. Temperament and Behavior Gilbert is described as a "big boy" who might initially intimidate people with his size and barking behavior. He is highly protective, barking at any strangers approaching the home or yard. This could be seen as both a positive trait (providing security) and a challenge (needing training to manage). Once Gilbert gets to know a new family, he will become very affectionate and loyal. He is said to have adored the young children in his previous home. Gilbert seems to do best in households with older children who can properly interact with and manage his large, active nature. Training and House Manners Gilbert is reported to be house, crate, and doggy door trained, indicating he has good basic obedience skills. His previous owners likely worked on his training, though additional socialization and obedience work may be needed to fully curb his protective barking behavior around strangers. Health and Background Gilbert is neutered and microchipped, and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He was adopted as a puppy but was later returned, suggesting there may have been some challenges integrating him into the previous family's lifestyle with young children. Ideal Adopter Based on Gilbert's size, energy level, and protective nature, he would do best in a home with older, responsible children who can provide him the activity and training he needs. A family or individual who is experienced with large, active breeds and can continue his socialization and obedience training would be an ideal match. Gilbert may require a bit more time and effort to become fully comfortable in a new home, but his loyalty and affection make him a potentially great companion for the right owners. ##1507591##
