My story

Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. The call was put out for the need from several commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of the midwest. Of course they always want money for some of the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. With beautiful Lexi (Galaxy) was used over & over again as a breeding machine & spent her life in a cage. These innocent souls lives were instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. She was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued a total of 17 lives of mums, dads & puppies including Lexi. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Lexi how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home. Lexi & her friends were bought back to the WA state where she is now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. This girl is the biggest sweetheart once she knows you. She looks straight into your soul & she will follow you around once she knows & adores her dog friends & another bichon she came with but with snuggle with her foster siblings. She will lay her head on them. She has one of the nicest & sweetest personalities we have seen. She lets us pick her up & she is so sweet & innocent & such a lovely little lady & wants you to love her & be affectionate with her. At first she would run away from her foster family in the home. Everything was all so new to her & she is learning how she should have always been cherished. We also tested her in a daycare environment & she has done well in that environment but prefers to be in a loving home. The reality is, the rescue is her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside. The fact too that no one can ever be cruel to her ever again. She was shaved down to the skin & we see the breeders do this when they are so very matted & she had skin issues that we have almost resolved & it took us a long time to get her fur to grow back in & get her skin healthy. Lexi eats a clean raw diet of different proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains & supplements. When it is time for Lexi to be fed she will be sitting near her foster mum waiting for her food now. She enjoys bully sticks & collagen sticks along with her homemade treats. She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not ever get to experience ever until she was rescued. She currently sleeps with her friends who we rescued together. She loves everyone & is so very sweet. She is good with being bathed & groomed & enjoys the hairdryer. Believe it or not she just lets you do anything to her. She would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. In her foster home she gets to go outside in a backyard but does not staying out there to long. Lexi also loves a good outfit & is used to wearing one. Lexi rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when she went to be sold & when we got her & going home & to & from the vets with us. But she does absolutely amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Lexi as you can imagine spent her life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Lexi where someone is home during the day or she can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Lexi is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. Lexi has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & she is currently with her friends she came with. She will be found snuggled up with them. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for her to thrive in. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard if you have a freestanding home. Lexi is roughly 14 lbs & he is roughly 7 years old & ‭a bichon‬. What she is mixed with we are not sure. Female, she is spayed by our wonderful vets, she is microchipped, had her shots, including DHPP, bordatella, leptospirosis & rabies. But once these shots expire we do not redo them as we will not over vaccinate our beloved dogs & just do rabies. She had a dental scale & polish & dental x-rays. Lexi has an umbilical hernia & we see this a lot with the breeding dogs. Our vet decided to leave it as it. Ors not affect her. We have spent far more on Lexi with getting her from a commercial breeder & cleaning up what he did to her. Bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA & Omaha etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering. Lexi has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have had her around small children & she adores them but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Lexi was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Lexi’s friends & siblings she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Lexi potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Lexi & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Lexi who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Lexi. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Lexi has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lexi, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
