My story

Did you know that there are dog age calculators online? We didn’t until today! We plugged sweet Prince’s information into one and his equivalent human age is 66! This sweet senior is ready for retirement, but not a senior-care facility, more of an active senior community! He’s hoping for a family who will take him for walks (his favorite) and let him take long naps indoors with his people (his second favorite). Prince was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own. His former family shared that he had positive interactions with kids and small dogs, that he was friendly when meeting new people, and that he was house and crate trained! You can imagine that for a sweet senior citizen the transition from a home to a shelter would be very confusing, but Prince has shown resilience and an amazing attitude. He greets each day with a waggy tail!Prince’s volunteer friends love taking him for walks, with one saying the following:“Prince was easy to leash in his kennel and easy to walk. He was clearly excited to leave the kennel but waited calmly with four paws on the floor (no jumping!) to be leashed. He checked in regularly with me. Prince walked at an easy pace, with very little pulling. We enjoyed a stop at a picnic table for petting. He was overall a pleasure to walk.”Shelter staff have also said that Prince is outgoing, friendly and easy to handle. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit.
