Valentine was returned from her trial adoption due to a bite incident in the home. Valentine jumped over a baby gate to greet the trial adopter at the same time as the resident dog ran by. Valentine lunged and bit the small dog causing two scratches on the dogs stomach, one scratch on the right hind leg, and one puncture on the right hind leg. Despite our best efforts at making her comfortable, during her stay in the care center Valentine has been observed to be hard barking at the kennel door, vocalizing persistently and pawing at the transfer door. Medically Valentine is apparently healthy.A Volunteer Wrote: This little girl has a big heart drawn on her kennel card, so I knew before I even began coaxing her out of her kennel that she had enchanted someone else who had stood where I had, begging her with biscuits to be brave enough to step out for a walk. Turns out her fear is totally shelter-based, as the moment we had managed to get across the street and she had relieved herself, she perked right up and stepped back into her darling self: So affectionate, so beautiful on a leash, possessing the kind of sweetness that made me want to take her in my arms and make a run for it (she's small enough that it would have been possible.) Ms. Valentine is deserving of so much more than a heart on her kennel card--she deserves your heart and a loving home where she can take a deep breath and get on with being a joyful dog.
