An update from Willow's foster 5/18/25: Willow continues to blossom in her foster home. Not only has she stopped retreating under my bed, she’s now willingly jumping on top of it! She is learning a routine, loving the safety of her crate but also playing tug of war and wrestling with her foster brother and sister. Willow would do best in a home with other dogs or animals, as her waning fear of humans remains a factor. She still gets a bit spooked if I approach her. However, she happily takes pets and belly rubs as long as she’s the one initiating. Being able to see how I interact with my two dogs has really helped her relax. I have no doubt that with more time and patience, she’ll let her fear of humans go entirely. Willow grows bigger by the day and her ears have started to stand up on their own. She has a sassy personality, barking at my dogs if they aren’t playing with her. We’re working on house training and she’s getting pretty good about using puppy pads. “Meet Willow, a sweet, playful female pup who is not so sure about humans yet, but is quickly adjusting to life in a house with other dogs and is making progress every day! This little girl loves playing with my two dogs (male and female, 9 and 5 years old). She lights up when either of them walks by, her little tail wagging excitedly. She even lets out a frustrated little bark when they are not playing enough for her! She follows them like a shadow and you can tell she is taking guidance from them. The first night I brought her home, Willow was so scared that she insisted on spending the night under my bed. As she watches me interact with my two dogs, you can see her visibly becoming more relaxed around us. Two days later, she is already learning to rest comfortably in a crate or curled up next to one of my dogs on their bed. She’s not a lap dog yet, but she has let me pet her a few times and has even given my foot a lick 🙂 Willow eats and drinks well and mostly sleeps through the night. She’s made a nest of toys for herself and is not destructive. She is a sweetheart but needs patience as she learns to be comfortable with people. Despite her fear, she hasn’t been aggressive.”
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Willow, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
